Susan A. (Fitzpatrick) Nixon, Esq. focuses her practice in guardianships, elder law, estate and trust planning, estate administration, residential and commercial real estate transactions, business planning and corporate matters. She has represented many families in estates and guardianships both under amicable and litigious circumstances.
She has been a member of the Burke & Casserly, P.C. team since April, 2007. Prior to 2007, Susan practiced on Long Island for many years.
Susan is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Albany County Bar Association.
Community awareness and education are important to Susan. She conducts educational seminars at local libraries, hospitals, senior centers, and nursing homes to ensure that current and accurate legal information is available to members of the community. Not only is community awareness a priority as, Susan is often a presenter at Continuing Legal Education seminars, providing her insight on experience to fellow attorneys as maintaining colleague relationships is also important.
Susan is the current Board President of Senior Services of Albany, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing low-cost, high-quality services and programs to our local Capital Region community, with an emphasis on enhancing quality of life and fostering independence for our community senior citizens and their caregivers.
Susan is also a board member of the Capital Area Council of Churches, an Albany established ecumenical organization focused on local charitable projects including an emergency overflow homeless shelter and the CROP Walk which raises funds for local food pantries.
In order to stay current with other professionals Susan is also a member of the Albany Chapter of Women in Insurance & Financial Services organization.
Susan received her undergraduate degree from Queens College, a City University of New York, and earned her Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law in 2002.
Susan enjoys puttering in her garden, playing on a par 3 golf course, and traveling. She lives in East Greenbush with her husband Ryan.
